Some medical experts say that the exposure to this metal can cause mental decline and loss of your memory. When it is used for cooking the bones are badly affected as metal gathers in them so it causes calcium loss. And calcium is pivotal for proper bone health as we already know.
Cooking with aluminum was also found to cause pulmonary fibrosis and some other respiratory issues. For example, when you are grilling or baking, the foil is exposed to very high temperatures and the small pieces of metal penetrate the food. And even if they are not released, additional spices of lemon can lead to chemical leaching of aluminum.
Essam Zubaidy, a chemical engineering researcher made a study to examine the effects of aluminum when we are cooking and he found out that an aluminum foil can contain up to 400mg of aluminum. He said that aluminum is not safe for cooking. He recommends avoiding it as much as possible, especially when cooking tomatoes, spices or citrus juices.
