These day people bring their phones everywhere they go, even to the bathroom. But this is a very dangerous thing since it exposes you to germs like salmonella, E. coli and C diff. Lisa Ackerley, a hygiene expert, says that if you wipe your buttock and then use your phone you put the bacteria directly on your phone, so you should not bother washing your hands. Another doctor, Ron Cutler says and advises all of us to not go to the toilet with our phones.
The level of contamination and bacteria depends on where you go to the toilet. For example, it is not as problematic if you use your office toilet, as taking your phone to a public toilet like in a cruise ship restroom or hospitals. These toilets are user by far more people that the one at your office or home so there are all kinds of bacteria and viruses.
Ackerley explains that viruses are not only transferred by hands, but also by your toothbrush, mobile phone, etc. And you may not believe it, but bacteria can stay and live on your phone for a couple of days because the phone warms up and heats up so it makes a perfect environment for the bacteria.
Doctor Cutler says that leaving a sticky coating on your phone creates the best place for bacteria and he strongly recommends avoid taking your phone when using the toilet.
